MY TYRANT, MY PROTEST, MY MYTH

“My work reflects a critical narrative of historical, cultural and personal experience. Using drawing as a personal act of revision my work explores the role of storytelling through Pre-Columbian mythology, popular folklore and elements sourced from visual and vernacular culture, all intertwined through a personal lexicon of imagery that is constantly recycled and revised over time.

My tyrant, My protest, My myth is characterized by an inter-disciplinary practice involving a new series of mixed media drawings, printed work and stop-motion animation videos that discuss issues of collective memory, historical trauma and cultural identity rehearsed in narrative form as personal mythologies. As such the new body of work attempts to cast new interpretations on memory-building as a form of personal resistance, political commentary and healing.”
